Parmigianino, The Emperor Charles V Receiving the World (c. 1529–1530)

Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, who as the grandson of the Catholic monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella ruled over a unified Spain for four decades during the first century of the country’s colonization of the Americas, was born in Flanders on February 24, 1500.
